About the role

  • Execute a Systems Engineering approach to new feature design to meet customer needs.
  • Develop feature/functional/implementation specifications, feature Failure Mode Avoidance documentation, feature verification plan, functional safety assessment, cybersecurity assessment & mitigation to meet use case attribute targets
  • Design feature system using Model Based Systems Engineering & Software Development (i.e. python) and software requirement tools (ex: Gherkin) for design and documentation.
  • Develop high level network, wiring and power distribution topologies / schematics / block diagrams
  • Allocate features and functions across electronic modules and subsystems to meet cost, quality and feature performance targets
  • Develop feature specifications, feature Failure Mode Avoidance documentation, feature verification plan, etc.
  • Review existing system designs to find new opportunities for cost or quality improvement. Interact with program teams, core engineers and functional areas to create balanced solutions to competing requirements
  • Develop relationships with cross functional teams and supply base to learn about the latest technologies and possible implementation
  • Analyze complex cross-functional systems and implement innovative solutions
  • Lead trade-off discussions with cross-functional teams
  • Communicate complex systems, issues and resolutions in a clear and concise manner
  • Utilize connected data & data analytics to develop a deep understanding of the customer

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or related field
  • 3+ years of experience with vehicle electrical systems and/or features
  • Strong learning agility, systems thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Functional knowledge of electrical module design, networking, wiring, power distribution, body systems, chassis systems, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to quickly understand and articulate complex issues
  • Emotional resilience to negotiate cross functional trade-offs
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or related field (even better)
  • 5+ years of experience with vehicle electrical systems and/or features (even better)
  • Hands on experience with Gherkin and/or Github (even better).
