About the role
- Create advanced design concepts of chassis components and systems (brakes, steering, suspension, wheels/tires/jacks) for Ford global vehicles and next-gen electrified architectures.
- Lead new component design / package maturation in CAD. Examples are stampings, castings, forgings, coil springs, shock absorbers, bushings, ball joints, fasteners, active suspension systems, brake systems, and steering systems.
- Oversee architecture system integration & installation, working with body, electrical, powertrain, vehicle operations, and vehicle architecture.
- Perform strength analysis for various chassis components.
- Perform chassis system analysis for kinematics and compliances, working with vehicle dynamics and NVH attribute teams.
- Early supplier engagement/interface for advanced concepts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, mechanical engineering preferred
- 5+ years of engineering experience preferred.
- 2+ years of automotive experience preferred.
- Strong cross-functional & communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical integration & installation requirements, package & assembly.
- Experience with CATIA V5/V6 and 3DX is a plus.
- Experience with FEA (ANSYS or Hypermesh) is a plus.
- Experience with ADAMS is a plus.
- Experience with underhood / underbody / dash package & mechanical integration/installation a plus.
