About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute comprehensive purchasing strategies for Powertrain/Engine commodities, including FIE, Camshafts, VCT, and Timing Chains
- Align purchasing strategies with company objectives and financial targets
- Lead voice improvement initiatives, people development plans, and career coaching
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers to drive performance, innovation, and long-term partnerships
- Establish cross-functional relationships using Supplier Relationship Framework principles
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks and build resilient supplier networks
- Monitor supplier financial health, quality, and supply; develop improvement and backup plans
- Use Supply Risk Management tools to proactively avoid supply disruptions
- Advise MP&L, Product Development, Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams
- Represent Purchasing at cross-functional program, project management, and launch meetings
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, technological advancements, and regulations
- Engage regulatory bodies, brokers, industry experts, benchmarking companies, and industry associations
- Lead category strategy development for Engine commodities, including resiliency planning
- Drive purchasing discipline through dashboards, digital transformation, Purchasing Policy, contract sign-offs, risk assessments, and Delegations of Authority
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree required
- 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement or strategic sourcing
- Direct or indirect leadership responsibilities over project teams, initiatives or direct reports preferred
- Strong business acumen, team building, collaboration, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical skills
- Understanding of cost drivers and cost modeling
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Visa sponsorship is not available
