About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead delivery of new mechanical steering component designs, including 3D models, drawings, and CAE, balancing cost, quality, weight, and functional requirements
  • Lead functional requirement definition, implementation, validation, and vehicle integration of advanced steering systems
  • Perform and lead steering system implementation design reviews and analysis
  • Review system functionality, electromechanical hardware, electrical architecture, Failure Mode Avoidance, fault management, and diagnostic strategies
  • Ensure Functional Safety under ISO 26262 through system design and validation
  • Manage steering suppliers to achieve program milestone deliverables for overall system function
  • Conduct vehicle-level testing for system validation
  • Lead issue investigations, vehicle data collection, and root-cause analysis
  • Conduct component- and vehicle-level testing to validate steering performance across prototype and production platforms
  • Collaborate with Vehicle Engineering and Driver Assistance Feature Engineers to optimize steering performance
  • Ensure on-time delivery of engineering deliverables
  • Support vehicle launches by traveling to build and validation sites
  • Apply project management, leadership, problem-solving, quality, and customer-satisfaction practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of automotive engineering experience or related mobility-sector experience
  • Exposure to electric vehicle platforms preferred
  • Solid foundation in statics, dynamics, materials, and thermal engineering principles
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling; 3DEXPERIENCE preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Track record of effective cross-functional partnership
  • Experience designing, prototyping, and validating electromechanical chassis systems preferred
  • Experience bringing chassis systems from concept through design freeze, validation, and full-volume production delivery preferred
  • Deep knowledge of chassis architectures, kinematics, elastokinematics, and vehicle dynamics fundamentals preferred
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, including castings, forgings, stampings, and extrusions, preferred
  • Knowledge of technical drawing practices and GD&T per ASME standards preferred
  • Proficiency with agile project tracking and technical documentation tools such as Atlassian JIRA and Confluence preferred
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
