About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the technical vision and execution for rebuilding Ford’s connected vehicle streaming foundation
Replace legacy systems with a modern, high-throughput, low-latency stack for global scale and efficiency
Mentor and lead Staff and Senior Staff Engineers
Drive technical alignment across an 80+ person engineering organization through RFCs, architecture reviews, and Golden Path implementations
Define database and time-series data-modeling standards
Architect schemas for high-cardinality vehicle telemetry balancing ingestion speed, cost, and query performance
Design and develop AI agentic flows that answer natural-language data questions and generate real-time insights
Architect AI/ML systems for intelligent data pruning, anomaly detection, and optimized compute allocation
Develop autonomous agents for intelligent ingestion, self-healing pipelines, and automated metadata tagging
Lead cloud unit-economics and total-cost-of-ownership optimization
Prototype difficult architecture segments and solve complex technical bottlenecks

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
10+ years of professional experience in software and data engineering
Proven track record architecting large-scale, petabyte-scale streaming and distributed systems
Demonstrated experience as a Staff or Senior Staff Engineer (or equivalent) providing technical leadership for organizations of 50–100+ engineers
Expert knowledge of relational, NoSQL, and time-series database modeling
Deep hands-on experience in Applied AI, Agentic workflows, LangChain or CrewAI, and LLMs
Expert proficiency in Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, Dataflow, and Vertex AI
Mastery of Kafka or Pub/Sub for high-throughput messaging
Proven ability to optimize architectures for efficiency, cost reduction, and performance in cloud-native environments
Mastery of SDLC, MLOps, and LLMOps
Ability to establish standards for testing, observability, and deployment of AI-integrated data systems
Experience with high-cardinality vehicle telemetry, windowing, and compaction
