About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Design and Release work for ADAS components under the Global Product Development System process across vehicle programs
  • Provide cost-efficient, quality parts on time and maintain component robustness quality documentation, including DFMEA, DVP&R, and SCAAF
  • Support sourcing through investment, piece price, and tooling cost reviews and prepare sourcing documents
  • Manage and execute hardware releases for prototype, production, and service
  • Lead Failure Mode Avoidance and Functional Safety analyses
  • Conduct Technical Design Reviews with Ford core activities and supplier engineering teams
  • Submit E/E information including Design Transmittals, specifications, and electrical diagrams
  • Support Vehicle Operations in determining assembly and testing processes
  • Interface with cross-functional teams to ensure specification compliance and effective decision-making
  • Complete BOM, integration and packaging, parts release, requirements compliance, Engineering Signoff, and other program deliverables
  • Analyze data, identify root causes, and develop corrective actions for hardware, software, and packaging issues
  • Support prototype and vehicle launches, including required travel
  • Identify required validation, durability, and functional testing
  • Support warranty reduction and improvement activities
  • Support Total Vehicle Management activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field of study
  • 1+ years of experience in Design and Release of E/E components
  • 1+ years of experience with Automotive Component or Subsystem Product Development tools and processes
  • 1+ years of CAD packaging experience
  • Experience with Teamcenter PLM for releasing engineering drawings and managing BOMs
  • Strong understanding and application of engineering disciplines, including engineering specifications, systems engineering, design validation, failure mode analysis, 8D, and Six Sigma
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate and interact with others, orally and in writing
  • Motivation to bring new technologies from concept to production in a short time period
  • Ability to travel as necessary
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field of study (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in Design and Release of E/E components (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience with Automotive Component or Subsystem Product Development tools and processes (preferred)
  • 3+ years of CAD packaging experience (preferred)
  • Experience with ADAS technologies such as camera, radar, lidar, ultrasonic, and domain controller (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and component design principles (preferred)
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, leadership, communication, and project management skills (preferred)
