About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead suspension system reliability demonstration
- Ensure quality from initial vehicle quality through high time in service
- Align Reliability and Confidence statistical objectives for the 90th percentile use case
- Cascade reliability targets from vehicle to system, end item, and end-item functions
- Account for suspension function and performance within customer operating conditions, environments, and noise factors
- Create and execute vehicle, system, and laboratory testing covering noise factors and potential failure modes
- Develop test methods and acquire, reduce, and analyze data for root-cause analysis
- Use warranty analysis, fleet information, government inspection data, supplier part sales, and social media to validate design verification test-method coverage
- Connect physical test methods to design inputs and CAE verification methods
- Drive stress factors into specifications and test methods to eliminate high-time-in-service failures
- Lead change-point analysis for reused or modified end items
- Align system durability verification methods for each application with technical specialists and connected-vehicle data teams
- Lead suspension diagnostics and prognostics
- Provide signoff for systems, subsystems, and components before Chief Signoff
- Coach, mentor, and train suspension design and release engineers globally
- Serve as go-to expert for launch, recall, quality, field, and DV/PV issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS-Engineering required
- 10 years of experience in chassis systems and architecture development
- Extensive system and component engineering design and release experience
- Knowledge of various chassis architecture performance characteristics
- Experience with vehicle, system, and component durability validation methods
- Extensive experience creating and managing DFMEA, PFMEA, SCCAF, Control Plans, and drawings-GD&T
- Experience with problem-solving tools including 8D, 5 Why, and Six Sigma
- Experience analyzing output from CAE and physical test methods for vehicle, system, and component
- Working knowledge and familiarity with Six Sigma tools
- Quality-focused leadership, innovation, excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and self-motivation
- MS-Engineering preferred
- Ability to handle complex tasks and challenging situations under compressed timing
- Experience communicating with senior leaders, design and release, and testing groups
- Planning, organizational, and project management skills
- Ability to drive and deliver results
- Coaching and mentoring skills
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with cross-functional teams
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred
- Ability to travel occasionally to assembly plants and global chassis engineering centers
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
