About the role
- Develop scalable and reliable data pipelines to collect, transform, and load customer data, maintaining high standards for data integrity and quality.
- Build, customize, and configure self-service tools to empower data consumers across the company to extract, analyze, and visualize data from internal sources
- Continuously evaluate and refine data sources and implement processes to enhance data accuracy, completeness, and reliability
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and make recommendations for new tools, metrics, and techniques to improve data engineering processes and outcomes
- Partner with teams across the company to understand business objectives and develop analytics solutions that drive key results
- As an early member of the team, shape data engineering best practices, influence technical decisions, and create key areas of ownership
Requirements

- you must be willing to take a drug test
- 3+ years of experience in Data Engineer or relevant role
- 3+ years of experience with SQL and other languages (e.g. DQL, Python, etc.)
- Proficiency with Relational Databases (i.e. Postgres, MySQL, Microsoft SQL, etc.)
- Excellent skills in data manipulation, reverse engineering, and solving complex data challenges
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Kibana, Tableau, or Power PI
- Proven background designing and managing data lakes, data warehouses, and other modern scalable data technologies
- Skills leveraging technologies like Apache Iceberg, Apache Parquet, Apache Arrow, BigQuery, and Amazon S3
- Highly analytical with meticulous attention to detail
- Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
- Computer Science or Engineering degree from 4-year accredited university (listed as 'will make you stand out')
- Early stage tech startup experience (nice to have)
- Past exposure to law enforcement, public safety, or to similar data systems (nice to have)
- Advanced Elasticsearch experience building search queries and aggregations (nice to have)
- Experience with object-oriented design and software design patterns (nice to have)
- Familiarity with data pipeline observability (nice to have)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD (nice to have)
- Prior experience working on an Agile/Scrum team (nice to have)
