Job Level

About the role

  • Visual Craft: Partner with product designers across pods (insurance, financial products, home services, and others) to bring illustration, motion, and visual polish into flows that drive measurable conversion lift.
  • Sit in critiques, push back, and propose visual solutions to product problems.
  • Illustration & Visual Systems: Design and produce original illustrations, icon sets, and visual assets that extend our brand into product surfaces — editorial pages, landmark templates, conversion funnels, AI/LLM templates, and onboarding.
  • Build illustration systems that scale, not one-offs.
  • Motion & Animation: Own motion work end-to-end, from storyboard and concept through After Effects composition, Lottie export, and lightweight SVG/CSS animation specs handed to engineering.
  • Ensure motion ships at the quality you designed.
  • Design System Contribution: Develop and maintain illustration and motion guidelines as part of our design system — defining style, usage rules, reusable components, and motion tokens.
  • Brand & Sponsored Content: Contribute to high-visibility sponsored content packages and media kit deliverables, working alongside BD, editorial, and brand stakeholders when those projects call for senior visual craft.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Concept and prototype visual ideas quickly — comps, moodboards, animation tests to align stakeholders before production.
  • Engineering Partnership: Collaborate with front-end engineers on implementation, specifying motion behavior, easing, timing, and fallback states so what ships matches intent.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across design, product, editorial, BD, and engineering. Articulate why a visual choice matters in plain language to non-designers.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience as a visual designer, graphic designer, illustrator, or motion designer, ideally with time inside a product, editorial, or digital media environment.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates range: original illustration work, strong typographic and layout craft, and motion pieces you've taken from concept to shipped asset.
  • Deep fluency in After Effects, Lottie (Bodymovin or equivalent), Figma, and the Adobe suite.
  • Comfort with SVG animation and a working understanding of how motion ships on web.
  • Experience producing illustration systems that scale across a product or brand — defining style, rules, and reusable components rather than producing isolated assets.
  • Strong opinions about craft, paired with the collaborative instincts to work inside a product design team and respond to business and conversion goals.
  • Ability to articulate the rationale behind a visual choice in plain language to PMs, engineers, editors, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Comfortable iterating quickly in a fast-paced environment and distilling direction from open-ended briefs.
  • Remote-first experience with strong asynchronous communication habits.
  • You bring people together—articulate vision, build alignment, and foster cross-team collaboration through inspiring narrative.
Benefits
  • Day off on the 3rd Friday of every month (one long weekend each month)
  • Monthly Wellness Reimbursement Program to promote health well-being
  • Monthly Office Commutation Reimbursement Program
  • Paid paternity and maternity leaves
