About the role
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Whangārei Transport Depot, ensuring safety, efficiency, and team performance
- Manage resources, workforce planning, equipment, and customer support functions
- Champion a safety-first culture – Home Safe Every Day
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across the site
- Maintain performance within budget and challenge inefficiencies
- Foster a high-performing team culture aligned with the Journey to Zero strategy
- Monitor and address site issues including people, fleet, and safety
- Collaborate with internal teams and regional stakeholders to meet transport needs
- Provide expert guidance on transport processes and industry best practice
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety plans, and legislation
- Operate on a 40-hour week (Monday to Friday 2am to 10:30am)
Requirements
- Experience working in a Supply Chain environment (Transport experience is an advantage!)
- Proven strategic leadership and people management experience
- Strong planning, communication and computing skills
- Skilled in problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation
- Ability to manage high workloads while remaining flexible and responsive
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational and logistical capabilities
- Results-driven with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, influence, and collaborate effectively
