About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and grow an engineering organization of approximately 16 engineers
Set technical direction and management practices for reliable, high-quality software delivery
Lead AI-native development spanning agentic workflows, LLM-powered services, and AI-assisted engineering practices
Directly manage four AI-focused pods accountable for features and outcomes
Own execution, delivery, quality, and velocity across four pods
Manage cross-pod dependencies, sequencing, bottlenecks, and delivery risks
Participate in and help drive architecture reviews across the React.js/TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, PostgreSQL, and Redshift stack
Ensure architecture supports scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, and HIPAA/SOC 2-aware practices
Keep teams focused on member and business outcomes
Drive practical AI adoption across engineering and product development
Improve code quality, testing, observability, incident response, and CI/CD practices
Coach engineers and tech leads and develop technical leadership
Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and leadership
Translate technical realities for non-technical stakeholders and vice versa

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of software engineering experience
5+ years managing engineering teams
Track record leading 10+ engineers
Strong, hands-on AI-native development experience with agentic systems, LLM integrations, or AI-first architectures
Track record applying AI to engineering workflows and product features
Experience managing multiple engineering teams simultaneously
Experience managing cross-team dependencies and risk in a multi-pod environment
Experience with Agile/Lean practices, Scrum/Kanban, Jira, and Confluence
Track record setting technical direction and making architecture decisions for scalable, full-stack web applications
Deep knowledge of React.js, TypeScript, Node.js, JavaScript, AWS, PostgreSQL, and Redshift
Experience with AWS Lambda, EC2, RDS, SQS, and DynamoDB
Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and familiarity with GraphQL and RESTful API design
Outcome/value-oriented mindset tied to business impact
Mentorship and coaching skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience in regulated environments, with HIPAA/SOC 2 awareness and audit-friendly change management, is a plus
Startup or high-growth environment experience preferred
