About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Hands-on product design, customer interviews & branding (50% of your time)
Ownership of **3 product areas** in close collaboration with Product & Engineering
Ownership of the **brand** in collaboration with our Staff Designer
Leadership of the design team – website, branding & product design (50% of your time)
Close collaboration with **engineering & founders** – short communication lines, fast decisions
Build customer understanding: you’ll speak regularly with real customers (tradespeople, doctors, law firms) and translate insights into design decisions
Set the **design standard** for fonio – across product, web and brand

Requirements

What you’ll need

Beyond the basics (**Figma, customer interviews**), strong **product & analytics experience** – you don’t design on gut feeling alone, you measure what works
**Senior individual contributor with lead ambition:** you have led designers before or are eager to do so – without losing the craft
**Pragmatism:** strong sense for presenting complex functionality simply – you solve complexity, not make it visible
Experience with **design systems** and scaling design across multiple product areas
**AI-first mindset:** you use modern AI tools (Cursor, v0, Claude, etc.) to move from idea to prototype 10x faster
**German as a native language** (DACH is currently our primary market) + strong English for an international team
