Own database reliability, performance, and availability
Lead administration, monitoring, tuning, and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server and Amazon Redshift environments
Design and maintain high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies that meet business SLAs
Own and optimize our AWS-based data warehouse architecture, ensuring performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
Partner with Data and Analytics teams to support reporting, analytics, and downstream AI use cases
Manage database security and access controls
Own database security across platforms, including user access, roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing
Partner with Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure compliance with internal standards and external requirements
Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to data access, integrity, and availability
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Analytics teams to align database solutions with product and business needs
Communicate database risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership
Drive operational excellence and automation
Improve reliability through automation, scripting, and proactive monitoring
Leverage modern tooling and AI-assisted capabilities to reduce manual work and improve operational signal

Requirements

7+ years of experience managing production database environments
Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, indexing, and HA/DR
Strong hands-on experience with AWS data warehouse technologies, including Amazon Redshift
Proven experience managing database security, access controls, and permissions in regulated or security-conscious environments
Comfortable working cross-functionally with Product, Infrastructure, Engineering, and leadership teams
Demonstrated AI fluency and curiosity, with experience using automation or AI-enabled tools to improve reliability, monitoring, or efficiency
