Engineer

• Develop and maintain integrated optical and multiphysics simulation frameworks (optical, thermal, mechanical coupling) for Digital Twin applications
• Model complex laser amplifier architectures, including gain media, pump geometries, and thermal effects
• Build, integrate, and continuously refine the Digital Twin environment for system-level prediction and optimization
• Validate simulation models against experimental data and perform sensitivity and uncertainty analysis
• Develop reduced-order and surrogate models for efficient Digital Twin deployment
• Collaborate with optical engineers, laser physicists, and experimental teams to translate simulation results into engineering design decisions
• Interface with Digital Twin architects, systems engineers, and program management to ensure models meet project requirements

Optical Engineer, Digital Twin

• Own the Diode Advance Program end-to-end: scope, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables across all work packages, including next-generation development, exploratory R&D, manufacturability confirmation, subsystem cost reduction, cost modeling, and beam-shaping optimization.
• Serve as primary technical interface with external research partners on diode bar development, overseeing both an evolutionary performance track and a high-risk/high-reward exploratory concept.
• Coordinate manufacturability reviews with multiple diode manufacturers; manage separate design-review cycles to confirm that R&D designs can be produced at commercial scale. Maintain the confidentiality firewall between competing manufacturers.
• Drive power-supply and cooling cost-down: manage collaborations with industrial partners to benchmark, redesign, and prototype improved driver electronics and cooling subsystems; scout and onboard additional partners.
• Provide technical inputs to the diode cost model covering the full stack and translate cost targets into engineering requirements.
• Communicate program progress, risks, and decisions clearly to executive leadership and all internal and external stakeholders.

Laser Diode Technology Engineer

Architect

• Define and refine laser driver concepts suitable for IFE.
• Explore alternative architectures and assess their feasibility through modeling and experiments.
• Maintain ownership of the global architectural vision, even as individual subsystems evolve in parallel.
• Define the laser R&D roadmap, including critical component development/evaluation, integrated beamline demonstrators, and intermediate testbeds
• Work closely with experimental teams to ensure results feed back into architectural decisions
• Support design of diagnostics and test protocols aligned with future scaling needs.
