About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver installation, configuration and maintenance of customer infrastructure, including SD-WAN, switching, firewalls, wireless, SSE/SASE and other network devices
- Act as an escalation point for complex technical faults
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced infrastructure issues across networking estates
- Design, implement and migrate enterprise network solutions including LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, VLANs, firewalls and secure wireless
- Lead networking projects such as network refreshes, LAN/WAN and SD-WAN rollouts, firewall deployments and wireless deployments
- Contribute to cloud migrations, infrastructure deployments and security implementations
- Manage technical workstreams within larger programmes and coordinate with project managers, consultants and third-party vendors
- Attend customer calls for technical scoping, solution design and implementation planning
- Undertake and document site surveys, technical audits and readiness assessments
- Support new customer onboarding and technology transitions, ensuring smooth handover to service operations
- Audit and document client infrastructure and maintain configuration records
- Develop best-practice documentation, knowledge base articles and technical runbooks
- Provide solution designs and technical proposals
- Mentor and support engineers on complex project deliveries and technical escalations
- Stay current with industry developments, emerging technologies and vendor certifications
- Work with account management, pre-sales and service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience in a support, infrastructure or solutions delivery role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Strong troubleshooting methodology and analytical problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation standards
- Punctuality, responsibility and excellent time management
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
- Flexibility to adjust working hours or travel for project requirements
- Full valid UK driving licence
- Desire to grow technical knowledge and achieve industry certifications
- Demonstrable expertise in VLANs, routing and switching, firewalls, WAN/SD-WAN, and wireless design and deployment
- Experience with Meraki, Cisco and Fortinet
- Experience in an IT Managed Service Provider environment (nice to have)
- Vendor certifications in networking or security platforms (nice to have)
- Experience with PowerShell or Azure Automation (nice to have)
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and service management principles (nice to have)
- Experience with IT Glue, Hudu or similar documentation platforms (nice to have)
