About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the end-to-end analytics data lifecycle: event taxonomy and tracking plan → ingestion → transformations → semantic layer/KPI definitions → dashboards
- Partner with product and client engineers to define and implement high-quality event instrumentation (naming conventions, properties, versioning)
- Build and maintain scalable, maintainable ELT/ETL pipelines, ensuring correctness, observability, and cost efficiency
- Design and implement data models (e.g., sessions, funnels, cohorts, monetization, retention) that support product decision making
- Define and enforce KPI definitions and metric governance to prevent metric drift and conflicting dashboards
- Implement data quality checks, anomaly detection, and monitoring (freshness, completeness, validity) with clear alerting
- Improve data discoverability via documentation, lineage, and clear datasets ownership
- Support experimentation and measurement: power A/B test analysis datasets and reliable experiment exposure logs (where applicable)
- Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritise the analytics roadmap and unblock critical product questions
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or backend engineering with a strong data focus
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills (dimensional modeling, metric layers, incremental models)
- Hands-on experience building and operating data pipelines and orchestration
- Experience with modern data warehouses/lakes (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift or equivalent)
- Experience with analytics event pipelines and mobile telemetry (Firebase/GA4, Amplitude, Mixpanel or equivalent)
- Experience with BI tools and dashboarding practices (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, Metabase or equivalent)
- Strong engineering fundamentals: version control, testing, code reviews, and production incident handling
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners, and translate questions into robust data products
