About the role
- Assist with the production of month end numbers for Technology within Group Reporting deadlines
- Operate a robust cost accruals process to ensure that costs are correctly accrued within the time constraints of a fast close environment
- Review all significant variances for areas of responsibility flagging key variances in advance of close
- Compile mid-month outturn numbers for technology for communication to senior management
- Standardise and automate where possible month end tasks to improve month end time lines
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations within set deadlines
- Proactively engage with assigned budget owners to improve processes and procedures around monthly accruals
- Continuously review processes and procedures in light of changes in systems and in requirements of the business
- Ensure processes and procedures are documented and robust
- Proactively engage in cross training initiatives
- Other tasks that may be assigned as appropriate
- Continuously review processes and procedures considering changes in systems and in requirements of the business
- Work collaboratively with related finance teams to achieve wider finance/organisational goals and efficiencies
- Pursue opportunities to reduce the monthly close process duration without impacting the quality of the information produced.
- Ensure processes and procedures within area of responsibility are documented and robust
- Work with all teams within the GFC as part of accounts production / close process to ensure accurate and timely accounting information is produced in accordance with their requirements
- Support Commercial Finance in the budget and forecasting process to meet Group timelines
- Proactively engage with Internal and external audits when required
- Deliver timely and accurate financial information to the Group reporting team
Requirements
- Qualified accountant with 2+ years working in a similar environment
- Proven track record in financial reporting/analysis
- Keen attention to detail & drive to improve quality
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to challenge stakeholders & performance manage direct reports
- Ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial staff in a confident and professional manner
- Adept at dealing with high volumes of data and comfortable in a highly automated environment
- Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment
- Experience of Oracle ERP or other similar financial systems an advantage
- Excellent MS Office skills particularly Excel
