About the role
- Assist in all aspects of legal advocacy including 'Know Your Rights' presentations
- Conduct individual intakes and pre-court counseling sessions
- Assist in direct client work, application preparation, and drafting of client declarations
- Research novel issues and legal memorandum writing
Requirements
- Currently attending law school in pursuit of a juris doctor (JD)
- Have completed at least one year of study by the first date of the internship
- Demonstrated commitment to advocating for indigent immigrant clients in a respectful and empowering way
- Strong legal research
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Highly organized, an innovative thinker
- Proven computer skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
