About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Supervise all operational finance functions (AP, AR, payroll, GL, taxes)
Lead a team of approximately 17 people, including a head accountant
Ensure the reliability, integrity and availability of financial information
Serve as a key partner to the FP&A team (separate function)
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
Drive the financial close process (timelines, quality, accuracy)
Ensure the rigor of accounting entries and reconciliations
Collaborate with FP&A on budget vs. actual analyses
Contribute to the interpretation of financial results
Support managers in understanding performance
Provide reliable financial data for the annual budget
Collaborate on forecasting and financial planning
Participate in discussions on profitability and performance
Implement and optimize internal controls
Ensure compliance with accounting and tax standards
Participate in internal and external audits
Standardize and improve end-to-end financial processes
Work with IT teams on financial systems and data quality
Identify and implement continuous improvements
Coach, engage and develop a multidisciplinary team
Structure roles, responsibilities and accountability
Foster a culture of performance, collaboration and rigor
Act as a strategic partner to operational teams
Work closely with FP&A
Contribute to business decisions and cross-functional projects

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA designation (required or a strong asset)
8 to 12 years of relevant experience
Significant experience managing a team
Experience in an SME or high-growth environment (asset)
Technical skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS or ASPE)
Strong financial analysis skills
Advanced Excel and ERP proficiency
Power BI experience (asset)
