About the role
- Work to maximize student success and promote access and equity for all students
- Deliver developmentally appropriate activities and services
- Host small and large group sessions to students including social emotional learning support and academic information sessions
- Plan and host school wide events such as Career Week and Honor Roll
- Assist and provide consultation to students and families in the enrollment and course selection process
- Collaborate with the Admin team in master schedule decisions/needs
- Review academic records and determine appropriate course placement
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders
- Support college and career readiness and exploration
- Collaborate with counselors of other FLVS programs for student records
- Participate in team meetings and functions
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling
- Valid professional Florida certificate in Guidance and Counseling
- Three years’ high school, middle school or elementary school guidance experience
- Knowledge and understanding of all state and federal education guidelines
- Knowledge of university admission requirements and procedures
- Knowledge of all state rules, laws, policies, and procedures applicable to elementary, middle and high school students
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of technical issues affecting the organization
- Proficiency in organization and coordination skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to employ innovative problem solving techniques to accomplish objectives
- Skills with all required and recommended FLVS computer applications
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
