About the role

  • Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements
  • Oversee general ledger integrity, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation and review
  • Manage internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance standards
  • Prepare and deliver timely financial reports and covenant compliance packages to lenders
  • Manage and develop a small internal accounting team
  • Support the CEO with annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow modeling
  • Conduct variance analysis and develop actionable insights for business unit leaders
  • Design and deliver reporting packages and dashboards to senior leadership
  • Develop and continuously monitor financial and operational KPIs across departments to drive decision-making
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting processes to improve efficiency and scalability
  • Support implementation and optimization of financial systems and tools
  • Leverage automation and technology to streamline reporting and controls
  • Act as a strategic partner to functional leaders ensuring financial visibility and discipline across departments
  • Provide financial insights to support pricing strategies, margin optimization, and resource allocation decisions
  • Collaborate with leadership to align financial plans with company-wide goals and operational execution

Requirements

  • Between 5-7 years of experience as controller with total accounting experience of 15 years, including leadership of accounting or finance functions
  • CPA preferred; public accounting experience strongly valued
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition under ASC 606 and other technical accounting standards
  • Experience in a software, SaaS, or recurring-revenue business strongly preferred
  • Proven track record managing monthly close processes and preparing financial statements
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Ability to lead and manage a small team or external partners with accountability
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess the ability to work in a changing, fast-paced environment while being a team player, willing to roll up their sleeves to do whatever is needed to deliver the customer experience we strive for
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
