Directs and coordinates activities concerned with development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices required to test, and record test data.
Interfaces and confers with scientific, engineering and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data, data interpretation or coding issues.
Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by electronic or software engineering, and management personnel.
Develops or uses computer software and hardware to conduct tests on electronic products and systems or software.
Trains and instructs floor support, test technicians and test operators on test hardware and/or software, as well as problem solving techniques.
Resolves test yield problems by performing analysis of root causes, developing and coordinating corrective action measures and monitoring improvements.
Perform and support equipment verification and integration in production and create and maintain process documentation.
Actively search for new technologies or procedures in the test sector.
Determines conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.
IN-CIRCUIT: Develop/support comprehensive test programs, modify test models, perform fault grade analysis, perform testability analysis (DFT), and coordinate 3rd party development of in-circuit programs and fixtures.
FUNCTIONAL: Develop/modify test programs using languages such as Python, LabVIEW, Perl; develop instrument drivers; design and support functional test hardware and plans; coordinate 3rd party functional test development.
ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS SCREENING (ESS): Design and support environmental test programs, profiles and mechanical/electrical interfaces; perform failure analysis; coordinate 3rd party ESS activities.
SYSTEMS & Software: Analyze and interpret software/system level diagnostic failures; develop/modify system-level plans and tests; support comprehensive test programs.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience and training
Typically requires 4 years of experience in test engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area
Experience directing/coordinating electronic engineering and technical personnel in testing and test control apparatus
Ability to develop and deploy strategic planning objectives
Proficiency developing/modifying test programs and test models
Familiarity with test languages (Python, LabVIEW, Perl) and instrument driver development
Experience with in-circuit, functional, environmental (ESS), and system/software test methodologies
Experience performing root cause analysis, failure analysis, testability (DFT), and mechanical analysis of test fixtures
Experience developing test plans, procedures, and quotations for test development and enhancements
Ability to train and instruct floor support, test technicians and test operators
Experience with equipment verification, integration in production, calibration of instruments and control devices
Ability to create and maintain process documentation
Willingness to coordinate with 3rd parties for test development and enhancements
