About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement strategic transportation plans to optimize delivery routes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency
- Evaluate transportation processes and identify areas for improvement
- Establish and maintain carrier relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance against service level agreements
- Source new carriers and freight partners
- Analyze transportation costs and implement cost-saving initiatives, including route optimization, freight consolidation, and fuel efficiency programs
- Collaborate with inventory control teams to maintain accurate inventory levels and coordinate timely replenishment
- Coordinate inbound shipments with suppliers and manufacturers and manage lead times
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety requirements, environmental policies, and industry standards
- Develop KPIs and generate reports tracking on-time delivery, transportation costs, and carrier performance
- Lead, mentor, train, and support transportation coordinators and logistics professionals
- Foster a collaborative work environment focused on organizational goals
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5 years of proven experience in transportation management, preferably in the heavy-duty truck parts industry
- Strong understanding of transportation operations, logistics processes, and supply chain management principles
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret data and make strategic decisions
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), route optimization software, and other logistics technology
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
