About the role
- Support U.S. GAAP compliance company-wide by assisting in performance or documentation of accounting policies for routine and non-routine banking matters
- Assist in external reporting and SOX internal controls review
- Apply and maintain the Bank’s accounting policies and procedures and work with business partners to ensure controls and processes
- Collaborate with senior management to develop, implement, perform and maintain accounting policies
- Perform and document analysis of accounting matters and provide recommendations to management and business units
- Assist in compilation and review of quarterly presentations to Executive, Disclosure, and Audit Committees
- Assist in compilation and review of SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K)
- Research and evaluate transactions, legal contracts, business practices, and policies for accounting and regulatory reporting compliance
- Assist in special projects and drive efficiencies and process improvements
- Identify financial risks within the department and provide solutions to mitigate risks
- Perform special projects and additional duties; maintain compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED/Foreign Equivalent
- Three years of accounting experience in corporate or public environments
- Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance or Accounting (preferred)
- Master’s degree in a related field (strongly desired)
- CPA license (preferred)
- Mortgage, banking, or financial services experience (preferred)
- Strong business systems and applications skills (desired)
- Excellent computer skills – MS Office, MS Excel, Macros, database use
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and team building skills
- Ability to work autonomously, handle multiple projects, and adapt to new demands
- Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and complete required compliance trainings
