About the role

  • Design, build, transform and implement a risk management framework for the Corporate and Regional Commercial Bank
  • Lead the ongoing identification, assessment, and measurement of the business line’s material risks and key controls
  • Bring expertise in regulatory requirements and experience in Commercial Banking & Lending networks and products
  • Support Corporate and Regional Commercial Banking strategy and Bank regulatory heightened standards; provide 1st LOD leadership to ensure prudent risk and compliance management
  • Support execution of a Non-Financial Risk Management framework and execute Risk Governance Framework including Risk Culture, Risk Appetite, Roles and Responsibilities, Risk Governance, Risk Assessment, and Risk Monitoring & Reporting
  • Develop and execute Risk & Control Self-Assessments, Issue Management, Internal Operational Risk Loss Events, External Risk Events, Control Identification and Design, and Quality Assurance programs
  • Engage with Bank leaders on incidents and issues for root-cause analysis, action plans, documentation and testing of implemented controls
  • Conduct risk management assessment of new products, services, and enterprise change management programs and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Provide risk advisory and guidance to Business Process Owners on process and control design, early risk identification, control environment operating effectiveness, policies and procedures, vendor risk, model risk, and data governance
  • Provide risk advisory on project initiatives, risk assessments, and remediation efforts
  • Coordinate Internal Audits, Compliance Tests, and External Exams with Business Process Owners and facilitate responses to audit requests
  • Support interactions with regulators (including the OCC and FRB) and Internal Auditors
  • Execute Business Unit Review Governance model and ensure compliance with Enterprise Risk Management policies, standards, and risk appetite
  • Implement risk management methodologies and ensure key risk and control data, inventory, metrics, and reporting are established and monitored
  • Embed risk culture across the organization with appropriate training regimen and prepare comprehensive written reports and summaries
  • Perform special projects related to risk identification and assessments, including gap analyses and development of documentation such as policies, procedures, processes, and user guides
  • Ensure regulatory/compliance related requirements are embedded within Business Units procedures and perform ongoing/annual reviews of Risk procedures

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Business, Data & Analytics or similar
  • 10+ Years of risk and internal controls experience
  • Experience in Commercial Banking and associated Lending and Deposit products
  • Experience in Treasury Management, Capital Markets, and Derivatives is a plus
  • Proven experience leading and executing in change management environments, and building programs / frameworks from the ground up
  • Experience in acquisition/integration environments
  • Proven ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization and develop positive working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to follow company policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and ability to prioritize
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality using tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated success communicating with various levels within an organization
  • Ability to analyze and assess the adequacy of operational controls and identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Drives change in the organization and ability to handle complex change management while remaining risk disciplined
  • Ability to think critically and logically
