About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own day-to-day operations of the dbt Slack community
- Partner with community leaders and internal stakeholders on channel strategy, community guidelines, and engagement programming
- Develop and maintain moderation and support workflows, including Code of Conduct enforcement
- Coach, support, recruit, and onboard moderators and community champions
- Create announcements, highlights, prompts, and community storytelling content
- Surface community insights and member feedback to Product, Marketing, and Support, and close the loop with the community
- Monitor and report on engagement and health metrics, and run improvement experiments
- Manage the community tool stack, including Slack workflows, analytics, knowledge base, integrations, and web portal
- Plan and manage incident response with Legal, People, and Security as needed
- Support digital engagement across community forums, social, and events
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in digital community management, online engagement, or community program management in a global or distributed environment
- Experience owning day-to-day operations for a large online community such as Slack, Discord, or a forum
- Experience with moderation, member support, and community health
- Strong understanding of online community dynamics
- Experience building and improving moderation and support workflows, including Code of Conduct enforcement
- Excellent written communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to respond clearly and empathetically, de-escalate issues, and encourage productive conversation
- Experience using community tooling and analytics, such as Slack workflows, Common Room, and/or similar tools
- Data-informed decision making, including defining engagement and health KPIs, measuring impact, and reporting outcomes
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Marketing, Support, and Developer Experience
- Cultural fluency and sensitivity to communication differences across regions and timezones
- High emotional intelligence and comfort navigating conflict, ambiguity, and sensitive topics
- Ability to prioritize across multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
