About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of three indirect tax professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Oversee all aspects of indirect tax compliance for SaaS/Telecom products, including the preparation and filing of transactional tax returns, US Sales/Use Tax, Canadian GST/HST, and other provincial filings.
- Manage and ensure timely and accurate filing of all state and federal regulatory filings, such as FCC/USAC reports, State PSC reports, and Canadian CRTC filings.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax positions.
- Provide tax guidance on new product introductions and service offerings, ensuring that all tax implications are identified and addressed.
- Monitor changes in telecom and indirect tax laws and regulations and ensure that the company's systems and processes are updated accordingly.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors and consultants.
- Lead and support the company during federal, state, and local telecom and indirect tax audits.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including sales, legal, accounting, and business operations, to provide tax support and guidance.
- Develop and maintain internal controls over tax processes to ensure SOX compliance.
- Streamline and automate tax workflows and documentation.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in indirect tax, with a focus on the telecommunications industry.
- Demonstrated experience with FCC/USAC filings and telecom tax compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GST/HST regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
