About the role

  • Lead medium-voltage (MV) electrical engineering design for renewable energy projects including solar PV, BESS, and wind
  • Provide senior technical leadership and serve as a subject matter expert for electrical engineering teams
  • Oversee QA/QC reviews of electrical designs, calculations, redlines, and construction deliverables
  • Mentor engineers and drafters, ensuring technical accuracy and high-quality drawing production
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Technical Leads, and multi-discipline teams across all project phases
  • Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, and phased design packages (30%, 60%, IFC)
  • Perform and review electrical calculations including load flow, short circuit, grounding, protective coordination, ampacity, voltage drop, and equipment sizing
  • Apply expertise in MV collection systems with working knowledge of HV substations and gen-tie systems
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NERC, utility standards, and permitting requirements
  • Support proposals with engineering scopes, design assumptions, and cost estimates
  • Conduct power system and interconnection studies (CESIR, SIS, BOP solutions)
  • Support construction with field engineering, site visits, and as-built reviews
  • Drive continuous improvement through updated standards, processes, and engineering tools

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • 15+ years of electrical engineering experience supporting renewable energy and power generation projects
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Experience with solar PV, BESS, wind, and renewable EPC projects
  • Proven expertise in short circuit, load flow, grounding, protective coordination, cable sizing, ampacity, and equipment sizing
  • Ability to read and interpret MV/HV single-line diagrams (SLDs)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVCase, PVSyst, ETAP, SKM, and Civil 3D
  • Strong working knowledge of IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and NERC codes
  • Understanding of renewable and conventional power plant regulatory environments, DC/AC systems, and interconnection processes
