About the role

  • Ensure the propriety of accounting for financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and/or established policies
  • Work closely with the VP and business unit finance management to review financial results, investigate issues, and explain variances and perform related financial analysis
  • Train, provide guidance and review the work performed by accounting staff to ensure transactions are processed in accordance with company policies
  • Direct the planning and implementation of divisional activities related to general accounting functions including the establishment and maintenance of a complete set of books and records for a Fiserv business unit; closing and reconciliation of the General Ledger and all financial systems; and reports and analysis related to the Balance Sheet
  • Provide technical accounting expertise and policy interpretation for complex transactions and work closely with the technical accounting policy team
  • Assist with corporate policy review of new customer contracts for appropriate revenue recognition considerations
  • Support the Company’s annual audit and quarterly reviews
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with internal SOX controls and accounting procedures, and discuss with management potential weaknesses in controls or breakdowns in procedures
  • Assist management in the documentation and implementation of improved controls and procedures, identifying, properly accounting for, and resolving key business issues

Requirements

  • 8+ years in accounting and financial reporting with strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Advanced experience using MS Office
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or equivalent military experience
  • CPA or CMA certification (great to have)
  • Accounting experience using SAP, Oracle or other ERP systems (great to have)
  • Ability to lead change and manage multiple deadlines (great to have)
