About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead legal support for litigation, disputes, government investigations, subpoenas, garnishments, funds restraint matters, and other third-party legal requests for assigned business areas.
  • Advise business, product, and functional stakeholders on legal risk, response strategy, escalation requirements, and practical options for issue resolution.
  • Direct legal analysis and case strategy for matters involving consumer-facing payment products, fiduciary administration, guardianship, probate, and related legal issues.
  • Manage outside counsel on assigned matters, including scope, strategy, budget, filings, and performance against case objectives.
  • Review pleadings, correspondence, investigative materials, settlement positions, and other legal documents to support accurate and timely responses.
  • Partner with paralegals, legal analysts, and cross-functional teams to improve matter intake, reporting, escalation, and case tracking processes.
  • Represent legal interests in internal discussions, negotiations, court-related proceedings, and other matter resolution activities as appropriate.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of experience practicing law in litigation, disputes, regulatory investigations, or financial services legal matters within a law firm, in-house legal department, or similar environment.
  • Experience in case strategy, investigations, document requests, subpoenas, or other complex legal matters.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents, legal correspondence, pleadings, and matter-related analyses.
  • Experience managing outside counsel, including directing strategy, reviewing work product, and monitoring budgets and case progression.
  • Juris Doctor or higher from an accredited law school, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction in good standing, or ability to become licensed in the applicable jurisdiction through reciprocity, registration, or other approved process consistent with role requirements.
