About the role
- Lead design, development, and implementation of effective Lines training materials and programs for the Workforce Development team
- Review and maintain knowledge of procedures, practices, and departmental background information; develop and administer policies and practices for the area served
- Incorporate changes in policies and procedures into curriculum and maintain communications about updates
- Design course plans, training aids, and use learning technology to support training delivery
- Conduct training programs and observe/review student evaluations to ensure effective instruction, policy explanation, safety adherence, and proper learning environment
- Collect and analyze feedback from supervision and students and recommend training improvements
- Mentor instructors through observation, providing feedback and written documentation
- Observe post-training performance of students, perform evaluations, and provide oral and written feedback
- Assist in administration of the training section: maintain training materials and attendance records, coordinate training programs with departments, maintain training/tracking system, submit course and registration information, and submit required paperwork upon course completion
- Communicate training activities and outcomes with supervision; complete projects by scheduled deadlines and assist in higher classification work as assigned
Requirements
- Must live within 1 hour of Erie, PA
- Associate degree or higher with 4+ years of training experience OR Workforce Development approved Instructor Certification OR Journeyman level overhead line work skills with training experience (classroom or on-the-job)
- Previous technical experience in Transmission & Distribution operations (Journeyman level skill set) preferred
- Prior experience as an instructor (classroom or on-the-job) desirable
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate training programs
- Skill to evaluate training materials, student evaluations, memos, and reports for content, accuracy, and clarity
- Verbal communication skills to convey ideas, policies, and procedures clearly
- Willingness to travel overnight when necessary
- Possession of a valid Driver’s license and/or CDL, as necessary
- Knowledge of learning technology, hardware, audio/visual equipment, and training tracking systems
- Functional arithmetic and current computer knowledge applicable to the training section
