About the role
- Architect, engineer, design, implement, operate, maintain, and ensure reliability of RF communication systems, leased-line services, circuits, and field communications infrastructure
- Support DC power systems, generator backup power, and environmental support systems for telecom platforms
- Provide technical support for Field Area Network device deployments and support maintenance and operations of in-service assets
- Maintain network and communications documentation in the company document management platform and manage communications requests portfolio
- Map network transport assets in the Geographic Information System (GIS)
- Participate in installations and upgrades; ensure proper implementation of computing and network architecture solutions
- Support operational performance and maintenance of existing network circuits and delivery of new products/enhancements
- Ensure technical standards, procedures, regulatory requirements, change management, and project scope/schedule/budget are followed
- Coordinate with internal and external groups on project delivery and take ownership of assigned work
- Author, edit, and manage departmental policies, standards, procedures, guidelines, drawings, and other deliverables (advanced level)
- Use administrative and technical writing skills with Microsoft Office and document tools to produce technical documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor or Associate degree in Networking, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Telecommunications or related field, or related work experience
- Basic knowledge of common test equipment (e.g., DMMs, antenna analyzers, spectrum analyzers and RF wattmeters)
- Providing network circuit design, platform administration, and support
- Circuit ordering/provisioning of leased services/circuits (e.g., 2/4 wire circuits, T1s, frame relay, DS3s, leased MPLS, MBLs, PRIs, SIP circuits)
- In-building cellular phone signal booster and network extender technology
- Environmental support systems for technology platforms (HVAC, AC/DC power systems, batteries, generators)
- Circuit inventory management and telecommunications expense management systems
- Interpersonal, written & verbal communication, presentation, and drafting/drawing (Visio/CAD/GIS) skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe Acrobat for technical writing, tables/spreadsheets, and diagrams
- Experience with circuit design and drawing management tools
- Familiarity with tools to monitor, control, and track circuit performance
- Project management concepts and tools
- Telephony systems (PBX, key systems, console systems, ACD)
- Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA); Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
