About the role

  • Lead the design and development of packaging solutions considering factors such as product protection, product compatibility, distribution, sustainability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales & Marketing, Product Development, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Manufacturing, to define packaging requirements and specifications for new and existing products.
  • Establish and maintain robust packaging specifications and processes, including supplier qualifications, mold qualifications, plant trials and packaging testing.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement within the packaging supply chain.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends to enhance packaging efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, to achieve shared objectives and resolve technical challenges.
  • Responsible for End-to-End packaging initiatives, encompassing assessment and implementation.
  • Align with plant resources to make sure the initiatives are feasible and sustainable.
  • Evaluate our packaging design performance, and support plants in packaging CI initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in package development of laundry, homecare, cosmetic or the food industry is required.
  • Significant knowledge extrusion blow molding, injection molding, thermoforming, and flexible barrier films.
  • Experience in liquid filled packaging formats and stand-up pouches.
  • Proven history of successfully leading packaging design and development projects from concept to commercialization.
  • Proficiency in palletization software, mold qualifications, and packaging material testing.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property, with a focus on patent review and creation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Travel requirement expected to range between 25-30% to various First Quality sites in the US & Canada, as well as for vendor or industry meetings.
