About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establishing relationships with potential borrowers through working with company-provided leads, and in some cases self-generated leads
- Facilitating the relationship between the bank and borrower throughout the lifecycle of the mortgage process
- Ensuring all compliance guidelines are strictly adhered to
- Taking scheduled calls with consumers to meet branch weekly call-volume expectations and production goals
- Attending and contributing to pipeline meetings & sales team meetings
- Educating prospects about the functionality of the First Lien HELOC product and assessing whether the prospect will be a good fit for the loan product
- Interviewing loan applicants, collecting and reviewing financial information, determining creditworthiness and the merits of loan requests
- Establishing and negotiating the terms under which credit will be extended
- Providing materials for loan presentations
- Taking responsibility for primary communication with the borrower, building out the loan file, and determining required documentation
- Proactively communicating with borrowers throughout the mortgage process
- Analyzing complex files and resolving challenges
- Informing clients of the bank’s underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations
- Managing personal pipeline to meet service standards and branch goals
- Keeping up with educational requirements and maintaining knowledge of relevant laws and products
- Complying with all applicable compliance guidelines
- Maintaining proper records and loan statuses within branch systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience in outside mortgage sales and origination, including established contacts/relationships within the designated market
- Experience and proven success in proactively soliciting new mortgage business
- One year of experience (3+ years preferred) in collecting and analyzing borrower income and negotiating skills
- Thorough knowledge of all mortgage products and programs
- Self-motivated with good organizational and interpersonal skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in standardized software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Open Close experience preferred
- NMLS License required
