About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform mortgage loan servicing duties involving accurate accounting, settlement, administration, and maintenance of mortgage loans
  • Focus on customer service, escrow administration, new loan boarding and quality control, loan maintenance, and/or payment processing
  • Develop and maintain Mortgage Loan Servicing procedures
  • Identify servicing training needs, develop training materials, and assist with training scheduling and delivery
  • Process loan payments and corrections, payoffs, and internal and external customer inquiries
  • Administer mortgage loan escrow accounts, including maintenance, monitoring, and payment of taxes and insurance
  • Collaborate with Mortgage Loan Servicing leadership to identify, propose, and implement workflow improvements
  • Collaborate with functional areas to coordinate procedures, resources, cross-training, and departmental and field communication
  • Maintain knowledge of First Interstate Bank policies, investor guidelines, and applicable federal regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • 1–3 years of experience in a financial institution within loan servicing required
  • Advanced personal computer skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and email
  • Ability to work as a self-starter with minimal direction
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills and team orientation
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to appropriately escalate issues requiring problem solving and decision making
  • Ability to resolve complex account issues with little assistance
  • Understanding of loan accounting systems, loan payment types, and loan processing preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Must pass pre-employment screenings, including a background check
  • New employees must verify identity and employment eligibility through E-Verify
