About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review loans in accordance with the bank's Loan Policy and Guidelines
- Analyze and risk-rate complex credit lines and critique credit classifications assigned by Loan Officers
- Ensure credit analysis is consistent with regulatory agency findings
- Spread, analyze, and review financial statements for complex current and prospective borrowers across various industries
- Calculate cash flow for complex borrowers and guarantors, including projections, trends, and ratio analysis
- Summarize findings in the bank's written credit presentation
- Prepare annual reviews of borrowing relationships
- Analyze intricate credit requests for the SBA portfolio
- Monitor covenant compliance with loan agreements
- Mentor and train less experienced staff
- Present credit exceptions and recommendations to the Credit Analyst Manager or Loan Officer
- Communicate with Loan Officers and the Credit Analyst Manager regarding documentation discrepancies and credit weaknesses
- Follow up until identified issues are corrected
- Attend Loan Committee meetings as needed
- Perform department and bank services and projects as required
- Attend Credit Department and other committee meetings as requested by management
- Act according to First Bank & Trust policies and procedures
- Adhere to compliance procedures and complete required compliance training
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree plus ten years of work-related experience or equivalent
- Extensive understanding of commercial and agricultural credits
- Strong proficiency in project management
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Understanding of the bank's Loan Policy and Guidelines
- Ability to analyze and risk-rate complex credit lines
- Ability to spread, analyze, and review financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and related reporting
- Ability to calculate cash flow, projections, trends, and ratio analysis
- Knowledge of SBA portfolio credit requests
- Ability to monitor covenant compliance with loan agreements
- Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff
