About the role
- Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools to support analysis and decision-making across geographic datasets.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze GIS data from public and governmental sources.
- Extract and interpret spatial data, assist in developing geospatial solutions.
- Contribute to reports and recommendations based on findings.
- Support the maintenance and development of GIS datasets.
- Use GIS tools (e.g., ESRI) to create, edit, and analyze geospatial data.
- Perform basic spatial analysis and assist in map creation.
- Review data and conduct quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) checks.
- Identify data issues and help recommend improvements.
- Document processes and support routine automation efforts.
- Assist with database updates while ensuring data accuracy.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Degree or coursework in Geography, GIS, Planning, or related field or GIS certification
- Internship, coursework, or 0–2 years of GIS-related experience preferred
- Familiarity with GIS software (ESRI/ArcGIS preferred) and MS Office
- Basic understanding of spatial data and map design principles
- Exposure to scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python) is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze data and solve problems effectively
- Clear communication skills and ability to work both independently and on a team.
