About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a portfolio of commercial loans and underwrite transactions
- Review and analyze financial statements and proactively monitor the portfolio to understand borrower performance and risk profile
- Partner with Relationship Managers and Credit Risk throughout the deal lifecycle
- Structure and analyze covenants, evaluate collateral, assess risk ratings, and prepare supported credit recommendations
- Maintain current and forward-looking views on client creditworthiness and communicate them to business and risk partners
- Conduct monitoring actions and periodic deal reviews; execute decisions to renew or modify deals
- Manage the bank’s exposure to portfolio clients with Credit Risk and Relationship Managers
- Analyze historical financials and projections for accurate risk ratings and early identification of emerging credit problems
- Manage underwriting, approval, and documentation for new money, loan extensions, amendments, waivers, and ancillary products
- Review and recommend credit decisions; perform final risk rating analysis; interpret credit lending policies for business partners
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines
- Recruit, train, and mentor junior team members
- Meet with prospects and clients as needed
- Create and deliver portfolio performance reports and presentations for senior management
- Maintain accurate system records and electronic files in support of compliance and data governance initiatives
- Provide performance feedback, develop employees, support career growth, and contribute to succession planning
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in portfolio management, commercial banking, or related discipline
- Strong understanding of accounting, credit analysis, portfolio management, structuring, underwriting, and legal documentation
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional presence for client-facing interactions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to collaborate with business and risk partners
- Expertise in financial and risk analysis, including financial modeling
- Demonstrated effective problem-solving ability
- Proficient in technology and able to learn new applications
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
