About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform independent business valuations to support credit and risk decisions
  • Provide research support on industry analysis and valuation trends across the bank
  • Support Commercial Credit with portfolio projects
  • Perform complex analytical, valuation, and financial modeling analysis for leveraged-loan credit underwriting
  • Use S&P Capital IQ for relative valuation analysis with guideline public companies and precedent M&A transactions
  • Calculate enterprise value using discounted cash flow models, including assessment of projected performance, WACC, terminal growth rate, and other assumptions
  • Build projection models in Microsoft Excel using the Bank’s advanced Leveraged Finance model
  • Analyze projections using industry data, historical performance, quality of earnings reports, and add-backs
  • Communicate with deal teams to obtain comparable companies and review projection assumptions
  • Conduct industry research using S&P Capital IQ, IBISWorld, Kroll, and daily publications
  • Maintain a valuation database and compare year-over-year changes in metrics
  • Report enterprise value for the bank portfolio and assess aggregate metrics
  • Identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report risks within the Bank’s risk appetite

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • 2–5 years of credit analysis or valuation experience, preferably in Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, or an industry vertical
  • Ability to analyze data and present conclusions effectively
  • Strong financial modeling and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Understanding of valuation concepts including market comps, free cash flow, EBITDA, present value, and WACC
  • Familiarity with the Bank's internal applications is a plus
  • CFA designation or in process is a plus
  • Highly skilled quantitative, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into effective and understandable financial models
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively and proactively with deal team members and bank partners
