About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare timely and accurate fiduciary tax returns, including Forms 1099, 1041, and 5227
- Prepare ancillary charitable entity returns, individual returns, and gift tax returns, including Forms 990, 990PF, 1040, and 709
- Retrieve and assimilate data required for income tax return preparation
- Review trust documents and ensure accurate taxation of assigned accounts
- Monitor and analyze transactions for tax consequences
- Advise investment officers and account administrators on tax concerns
- Calculate estimated taxes and generate tax projections for individual income clients
- Answer questions about tax liabilities, deductions, and related issues, including correspondence with tax authorities
- Interact with personal trust, Private Bank, and other Investment Advisors teams
- Participate in new business development
- Research federal, state, and local tax law issues
- Research and present internal training on relevant tax topics
- Support trust officers and assistants in the Investment Advisors division with tax information needs
- Identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report risks within the Bank’s risk appetite
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Internship or co-operative experience in tax, or prior public or industry accounting experience preferred
- Working toward CPA, EA, or MBA preferred
- Knowledge of elementary accounting and tax subject matters
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Understanding of tax return preparation software preferred
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work individually and as a team member
- Ability to work in a professional and dynamic environment
- Sound judgment and ability to apply logical and critical thought processes
- Capacity and interest to acquire technical knowledge of fiduciary accounting and taxation
