About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently leading and managing a portfolio of complex litigation and pre-litigation matters across assigned lines of business
- Partnering with business, Risk, and Compliance stakeholders to assess exposure
- Guiding decision-making, and mitigating legal and reputational risk
- Exercising sound judgment in balancing legal risk with business objectives while operating within the Bank’s risk appetite
- Leading litigation strategy across assigned matters, including pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, trial/arbitration, and settlement
- Independently evaluating claims and exposure, and making recommendations regarding case strategy and resolution
- Managing pre-litigation disputes, demand letters, regulatory inquiries, and threatened claims
- Directing and holding accountable outside counsel, including scope, staffing, budgets, strategy, and outcomes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 5 years’ experience preferred
- J.D. required
- Admission to a state bar
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to interface successfully with senior management using diplomacy
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong knowledge of the areas of expertise including technical knowledge
- Strong issue spotting, risk assessment, and problem solving skills
- Extensive research and analytical skills
- Team building, leadership skills
