Lead Consultant
Fife CouncilLead Consultant providing leadership in technical civil engineering projects within Roads & Transportation. Co-ordinating activities and supporting the Service Manager in high-quality project delivery.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide professional supervision and technical guidance to team members.
- Work closely with the Service Manager to ensure consistently high service standards and delivery.
- Deputise for the Service Manager when required.
- Support preparation of budgets, spending profiles and service plans.
- Co‑ordinate workload, resources and programmed service delivery.
- Prepare and deliver committee reports, papers, presentations and recommendations aligned with service priorities.
- Stay ahead of new innovation, best practices and technical standards.
- Engage with Consultants to provide specialist design support.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree standard education (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Significant experience in the Roads and Transportation industry.
- Experience in budget management.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Extensive knowledge of key legislative components.
- Leadership, team‑building and relationship‑management skills.
- Strong IT skills and willingness to embrace technology.
- Political awareness and experience engaging with elected members.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, promoting a positive culture in the workplace.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage conflicting demands effectively.
- Experience in preparing and managing project plans and programmes, with a focus on digital integration.
- Ability to travel within Fife.
