About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform electrical design of utility-scale solar projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, cable routing, communications systems design, grounding design, equipment selection, and equipment specifications.
- Perform electrical system modeling in ETAP to evaluate cable ampacity, voltage drop, ground potential rise, and thermal performance.
- Develop comprehensive electrical engineering reports, including short-circuit studies, load-flow analyses, arc-flash hazard assessments, and ground grid evaluations.
- Create, modify and review PV electric supply stations using PVsyst and System Advisor Model.
- Create, modify and review electrical drawings and construction details using AutoCAD.
- Perform engineering and design functions as necessary to meet project schedules.
- Perform site reviews and construction site visits.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy Systems
- Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
- Must be a reliable, efficient self-starter with initiative and a sense of responsibility
- Prior internship experience desired
- Prior AutoCAD and ETAP experience desired
- Working knowledge of electrical components including: PV modules, inverters, transformers, surge arresters, and circuit breakers.
- Familiarity with electrical engineering standards/codes including: NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, UL, NESC.
- Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively, by telephone, in written form, email and in person
- Ability to keep accurate and detailed records or notes
