About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise specified client groups and business partners on employment law matters
- Handle advisory, internal investigative, and employment litigation matters
- Apply federal, state, and international labor and employment laws
- Apply securities rules and regulations applicable to employee conduct
- Advise senior executives and HR business partners on employment matters
- Litigate complex and routine employment and labor matters
- Advise Fidelity leaders, Human Resources, Employee Relations, and Internal Investigations
- Support management and resolution of employment issues
- Work closely with a collaborative group of legal and business professionals
Requirements
What you’ll need- J.D. degree
- 7–10 years of relevant experience practicing Labor and Employment Law
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws
- Knowledge of employment discrimination and retaliation, accommodations and leaves of absence, wage/hour and payroll, worker classification, whistleblowing, data privacy, reductions in force, workplace injury, credit and criminal checks, and waivers of claims
- Litigation experience strongly preferred, particularly FINRA arbitrations related to U-5 filings
- Experience advising employers in financial services valuable but not required
- Experience advising employers regarding immigration-related matters valuable but not required
- Ability to advise senior executives and HR business partners
- Demonstrated success litigating complex and routine employment and labor matters
- Superior analytical, writing, oral communication, research, investigatory, advocacy, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Exceptional judgment when weighing legal and business risk
