About the role
- Collaborate with engineers to understand secure system design and deployment.
- Participate in vulnerability scanning and remediation efforts.
- Contribute to automation or scripting tasks that improve security processes.
- Explore security challenges unique to industrial control systems and OT environments.
- Support risk assessments and policy reviews.
- Help with vendor security evaluations and third-party risk management activities.
- Assist in preparing materials for compliance initiatives (e.g. NIST CSF, ISO 27001, NERC CIP).
- Support the investigation and documentation of potential security events.
- Learn to use SIEM, EDR, and other monitoring tools.
- Assist with daily monitoring of security alerts, logs, and incidents.
- Support research and projects related to AI-driven threat detection and prevention.
Requirements
- Rising junior, senior, or graduate student actively pursuing a degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field
- Foundational understanding of networking, operating systems, and IT concepts
- Familiarity with cybersecurity topics such as malware, phishing, firewalls, and encryption
- Demonstrated interest in OT security and/or AI applications in cybersecurity
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); exposure to security tools or labs is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
