About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as the electrical technical lead on major capital projects
Own specifications, design, and analysis of electrical systems for power generation and surface facilities
Lead the electrical design of transmission and substation systems from 13.8 kV through 500 kV
Drive first-principles tradeoff analysis across power delivery systems to optimize plant performance
Identify opportunities to simplify and accelerate designs while maintaining technical excellence
Support Fervo’s interconnection team as needed
Recruit, coach, and develop a world-class team of electrical engineers
Instill a culture of extreme ownership — where engineers own cost, safety, and constructability, not just design
Foster collaboration across disciplines and with external partners

Requirements

What you’ll need

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
8+ years of experience in electrical engineering in large capital projects
Proven track record leading and developing high-performing engineering teams
Deep expertise in power delivery and systems, transmission, distribution, and substations
Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to translate technical complexity into clear decisions
Strong knowledge of substations from 13.8 kV through 500 kV
Experience specifying large power transformers, high-voltage circuit breakers, disconnect switches, instrument transformers, protective relays, station service equipment
Experience working with utilities or transmission owners
Strong understanding of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, NERC, and NFPA standards
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
