About the role

  • Set up and maintain attorney billing rates, discounts, deferrals, and matter billing guidelines
  • Review engagement letters and billing guidelines to ensure matters are set up per firm/client standards
  • Maintain documentation of non-standard billing requirements
  • Prepare, review and distribute prebills monthly and perform billing edits, write downs, transfers, discounts in Aderant and Prebill Viewer
  • Ensure timely submission of client bills/e-bills and collaborate with e-billing administrator for setup and maintenance
  • Provide estimates to attorneys and clients and prepare client account analyses using system tools (Aderant, EIS, FRP, ARCS, etc.)
  • Support collections activities for assigned portfolio, coordinate with partners and Collections, and prepare write-off/write-down or 3rd party collection requests
  • Coordinate monthly meetings with assigned billing attorneys regarding clients, special billing arrangements, and aged WIP
  • Assist attorneys, secretaries and clients with billing and collections questions; monitor billing and AR hotline on rotation
  • Act as backup support and provide coverage for team as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of finance and/or general accounting experience (ideal)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance preferred
  • Experience with legal billing and accounting systems preferred
  • Ability to set up and maintain attorney billing rates, discounts, and deferrals
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and distributing prebills and invoices
  • Experience with collections activities and account reconciliation
  • Ability to use systems such as Aderant, Prebill Viewer, EIS, FRP, ARCS
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Attention to detail and proofreading accuracy
  • Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, diplomacy, and tact
