About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support development of resources for lawmakers and stakeholders focused on SNAP, TEFAP and other commodities, Food is Medicine, child nutrition, and related policy areas
- Establish and streamline systems for housing Feeding America resources and coordinate regular updates and internal postings
- Operationalize regular reports on Hill engagement in Quorum
- Collect grant deliverables, department reporting measures, and other assigned deliverables
- Support annual appropriations work, authorizing campaigns, network fly-ins, and other Government Relations priorities
- Support development, implementation, and reassessment of policy priorities and initiatives
- Monitor emerging news, federal policies, and legislation affecting food banks, emergency food providers, and people facing hunger
- Attend hearings, markups, partner meetings, and information sessions; provide reports and after-action reviews
- Draft newsletter articles and PowerPoint slides for weekly Government Relations newsletters and monthly network webinars
- Provide technical support for Hill briefings and external webinars
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong writing and research skills
- Basic knowledge or familiarity with Capitol Hill and the legislative process
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to tailor communications to varied audiences
- Strong project management and critical thinking skills
- Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Experience with MS Office applications
- Experience with Quorum, Tableau, Canva, and other legislative tracking platforms preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment authorization verified through E-Verify
