About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve predominantly property claims fairly, promptly, and equitably
  • Evaluate claims and determine coverage validity
  • Conduct necessary investigations and estimate damage
  • Research, evaluate, and explain policy coverage to clients and third parties
  • Create settlement documentation
  • Determine and authorize settlement payments based on investigation and coverage/liability determinations
  • Scope the value of damaged items
  • Negotiate settlements with contractors, clients, and third parties
  • Conduct field investigations
  • Recommend resolutions for claims exceeding authority limits
  • Retain and collaborate with outside experts, including engineers and valuation vendors, when necessary
  • Support clients through the claims process and as they rebuild businesses and resume their lives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current pursuing, or have obtained a four-year degree
  • Ability to proficiently and effectively manage work with minimal work direction
  • Strong analytical, computer and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Must live, or plan to relocate, within 1 hour of a major airport
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer
  • Federated will not sponsor employment visas
  • Must have physical mobility, vision, and hearing necessary to traverse and evaluate claims damage
  • Ability to ascend/descend a ladder
  • Ability to lift, push and pull items weighing 60 pounds or more
  • Willingness to travel frequently by car and/or plane, including overnight and frequent multi-night travel
  • Ability to adjust work schedule and/or work extra hours, including evenings and weekends
