About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve claims fairly, promptly, and equitably
- Evaluate claims, determine coverage validity, and conduct investigations
- Inspect heavy trucks, trailers, and other equipment to determine damage extent
- Prepare written repair-cost estimates and/or determine actual cash value
- Negotiate directly with clients and third parties
- Obtain and evaluate written and recorded salvage bids in total-loss cases
- Photograph damaged property to document damage scope and property identity
- Document investigations and actions in complete, accurate, self-sustaining records
- Keep technical manuals and electronic reference materials updated
- Maintain knowledge of industry developments, repair techniques, and procedures
- Plan and schedule work itineraries to maximize travel time
- Travel frequently by car and/or plane; approximately 50% travel, with frequent overnight and occasional multi-night travel
Requirements
What you’ll need- Prefer industry experience with heavy trucks and trailers with an interest in deepening industry and estimating knowledge
- Prefer two years’ automotive body experience or vocational training in related field, demonstrating basic understanding of automobile body parts, or a four-year degree
- Ability to proficiently and effectively manage assigned claims with minimum work direction
- Prefer two years customer service experience
- Strong analytical, computer, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer
- Must not require employment visa sponsorship
- Must not be a student or recent graduate with a J-1 or F-1 visa or similar temporary work authorization
- Physical mobility, vision, and hearing necessary to traverse and evaluate claims damage
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to noise, heat, and/or cold
- Ability to adjust work schedule or work extra hours, including evenings and weekends
